GESTURE DRAWING
Zentangle
In my artwork, I decided to draw a deer with grass surrounding her. The title of my work is “ Zentangle”. The elements that are most obvious in my work is the space in the deer's face along with the curved pupil and the antlers with different kinds of lines. I decided to only draw half of the deer, thanks to Mr. Shunt because he saw me struggling... I first began but doing the outline of the deer with pencil and adding the facial details. I then continued to create different designs all around the deer and on the grass. I finally finished it off by going over everything with a black sharpie. Furthermore, Christmas and nature inspired my artwork because christmas is my favorite holiday and it’s just around the corner. Nature also inspired this piece of art because I enjoy exploring and I love flowers and anything that has to do with nature. In my artwork I decided to try and show positivity by adding different kind of lines and doing shapes such as circles and squares. Some goals as an artist, were to be patient and just go with the flow. This piece did indeed help me with my goals because it showed me how every detail is important and it is okay for it not to be perfect because at the end it will all come together, the mistakes made helped me create many different other designs which came as an advantage to me. After creating this artwork, I can clearly see how simple it was, at first I thought it was the most difficult thing I ever had to do in my life, but honestly it was very simple, it just requires patience well at least for me. My final piece was exactly how I imagined it to be after deciding to only do half of the deer because it had a lot of different detail. For my future artwork, I would like to include a lot more different designs because I feel that I used many of the same ones such as the little droplets and curved lines. I would also like to add more value to my future work to make it stand out more and add more to the background, just so it would not look as empty as my deer zentangle.
